Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle was dragged into the X Factor Auto-Tune row today when it was revealed that the Scottish singer’s first appearance was digitally tweaked.

The X Factor this week admitted using technology to smooth out faults in contestants’ singing during the audition stages. Today the Standard learned that the same techniques are used on Simon Cowell’s other reality show, Britain’s Got Talent.

A show insider said: “The exact same techniques are used on Britain’s Got Talent as on The X Factor — it’s the same production team. The sounds are cleaned up — it’s an open secret and an industry standard.

“This goes for everyone — even Susan Boyle’s audition was smoothed out in post-production to give it the best possible sound.”

Boyle’s audition was seen by more than 120 million people on YouTube and helped make her a global star. A spokeswoman for Talkback Thames, producer of both shows, said: “In line with standard television practice, sound filtering technology has been used on Britain’s Got Talent on our pre-recorded shows, but this does not unfairly reflect any singer’s performance.

“The performance shown on screen is a fair reflection of performance given in the live theatre. Judges make their decision based on that live performance.”

Scottish singer Susan Boyle, who became popular as a contestant on reality TV show ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ in 2009, is going to get her wax statue at the Madame Tussauds Museum. With this the ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ star has made a place beside the Hollywood celebrities.

The 49 year old singer has already been measured for her wax statue. The tabloids gave her the nickname ‘hairy angel’ for her dull appearance. The very first album of Susan titled ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ earned her a fortune of USD 15 million. The work on her wax model has already started and will be displayed later this year at the London tourist hotspot.

According to a source close to Boyle, “Susan is very excited about this. It’s unbelievable to her. Even in her wildest dreams, the singer had never thought to get a place at Madame Tussauds”.

Susan’s wax model will replicate her off-duty look with casual clothes, untidy hair, and little make up. The popularity of the singer among American tourists have made the wax museum to go for her statue. Entering the industry in 2009, Susan has sold more than ten million albums. She has reportedly started working on a Christmas album for the coming holiday season.

The wax figure of Susan will reportedly cost around $200,000 to give it the full-fledged shape.

Singer Susan Boyle is to become the latest celebrity to be immortalised in wax at London’s Madame Tussauds.

According to the News Of The World Susan, who found fame on 2009 Britain’s Got Talent season, has been secretly measured up for the waxwork, which will go on display at the London tourist attraction later this year. She will be one of eight new waxwork figures due to debut at the attraction, each costing around £150,000.

“She’s very excited about this,” a source told the paper. “Susan would never in her wildest dreams have ever imagined she’d one day be a waxwork at Madame Tussauds. It’s unbelievable.”

The model is expected to feature Susan’s original look – complete with dowdy clothes and unkempt hair – rather than the smarter look she adopted after becoming famous. And Susan will be hoping that the figure proves popular, so as to avoid being melted down in the future – as has happened to other celebrity waxworks. Former X Factor winner Shayne Ward is among those whose waxwork has been removed and destroyed, while veteran presenter Terry Wogan had his waxwork melted down to make models of Ant and Dec.

“Figures are often melted down and re-made into someone new,” said a museum source. But Susan Boyle is hugely popular – especially among Americans. It’s a big coup to get her.”

[April 2009] The world is smitten with British sensation Susan Boyle and though her appearance has been described as “dowdy” and prompted calls for a makeover fans want the powerful singer to know they love her just the way she is.

Boyle told CNN this morning that she’s overwhelmed by her sudden notoriety. “I’m gobsmacked, absolutely gobsmacked,” she said. The word “gobsmacked” is British slang to mean astonished or astounded. But Boyle herself also said she wouldn’t want the instant fame to change her.

“I wouldn’t want to change myself too much because that would really make things a bit false,” she said Friday in an interview with CNN.

“I want to receive people as the real me, a real person.” Boyle, 47, burst into the spotlight last week when she performed the song “I Dreamed a Dream” on the reality show “Britain’s Got Talent.”

At least two members of the show’s judging panel have said they judged Boyle on her looks when she first appeared on stage before them. Based on the somewhat disheveled state of her baggy dress and wild hair they admitted they didn’t expect much.

“It’s a very shallow thing to say but, obviously, the minute she walked onstage we all, and the audience, completely judged her on her appearance and everything else. And I hate saying that. But, you know, that true cliche, we judged a book by its cover,” said judge Amanda Holden in an interview Friday on the CBS …

Susan Boyle guest starring on Glee would be “a perfect fit”, according to one of the show’s creators. Ian Brennan says writers and the cast are keen for the Britain’s Got Talent star to make an appearance.

“I’ve heard the same whispers but I can neither confirm nor deny,” Ian hesitantly admitted, speaking as Jane Lynch revealed a new Sue Sylvester waxwork at Hollywood’s Madame Tussauds. I think Susan is amazing, such an incredible, interesting and strange icon for everything our show is about,” he explained.

“It would be a perfect fit. I hope we can make it work.”

The writer also revealed how shocked the production team were to be contacted by Sir Paul McCartney. “You know that the dog has caught the car when you’re getting mixed tapes from Paul McCartney, being like ‘hey maybe some ideas for Glee?’. It’s the weirdest thing ever,” he laughed.

And Macca hasn’t just offered the Glee cast his lesser known tracks.

“It’s like all the good ones, Back In The USSR, these are like crazy, iconic, amazing songs,” Ian revealed.

“I just want to do it so I can meet him and just like kiss him on the face and give him a big old hug or something!”

International singing sensation Susan Boyle is having a meltdown over financial fears. The quirky Scottish singer is reportedly upset because she has to live on a weekly allowance of around $450, has no credit cards, has to travel by bus and can’t afford furniture for her new five-bedroom house.

Susan’s brother Gerry Boyle tells the Daily Mail: “When Susan realized she can’t just walk into a bank and take out her own money, she had a fit because she thought she was down to her last few quid. She was extremely distressed. She lives in fear of losing everything and returning to her old life before she made it big.”

Although she’s sold more than 8.5 million copies of her debut album “I Dreamed A Dream,” all her earnings are controlled and invested by her management team.

Gerry, 55, reveals, “Susan said to me, ‘I’ve been told I get £500 a week because I’m a novice. I don’t have the money to go and buy the furniture’. She should be able to walk into a bank anywhere and say she wants £50,000 cash. That may not be advisable, but it would be Her choice because it’s Her money.”

“Susan doesn’t look as if she’s a successful international chart star,” Gerry adds. “She should be riding high, developing her career, traveling the world. She shouldn’t be worried about money when she has millions in the bank.”

Gerry thinks Susan also needs reassurance from her record company SyCo boss Simon Cowell, that her record deal is still safe. Cowell, by the way, has admitted that his initial snooty reaction to Susan made him hate himself. Simon Cowell’s company SyCo responded to the Daily Mail: “Finances are handled between artists and their management. We do not comment on such matters.”

Sounds like she’s become a British Britney Spears, with her life and finances tightly controlled by people (including some of her family) who don’t think she’s savvy or strong enough to handle things. Where, Oh Where, Has SuBo’s money gone? Scottish spinster-turned-talent show sensation Susan Boyle is reportedly living on just $450 a week — despite recording one of 2009’s best-selling albums — after being denied access to her huge fortune. At least that’s the word from Susan’s brother.

The singing sensation sold over 8.5 million copies of her debut LP I Dreamed A Dream and is believed to have earned close to $20 million in royalties after finding fame on Britain’s Got Talent in the Spring of 2009. Nonetheless, Boyle is “distressed” after being banned by her management team — which includes Susan’s lawyer niece Kirsty Foy — from withdrawing her own money from the bank or owning a credit card, says Susan’s concerned older brother Gerry Boyle. In fact, Susan’s financial situation is so bad, she can’t even move into her new home in an upscale section of Blackburn, West Lothian, because she can’t afford to buy furniture.

“Susan said to me, ‘I’ve been told I get $600 a week because I’m a novice. I don’t have the money to go and buy the furniture.’ The should be able to walk into a bank anywhere and say she wants $100,000 cash. That may not be advisable, but it would be her choice because it’s her money,” Gerry told Britain’s News of the World this weekend. Susan’s family is now appealing Susan’s mentor Simon Cowell and executives at her SyCo recording label to come to the aid of the shy singing star:

“Susan’s under the impression that her management can take her career away. Obviously that’s not the case. But I’ve asked for someone Susan trusts at SyCo – even Simon himself – to simply confirm she will not lose her contract. She should be riding high, developing her career, travelling the world. She shouldn’t be worried about money when she has millions in the bank.”
