Pope Benedict will embark on the first official papal visit to England and Scotland in a few weeks, and organizers have released a list of what is allowed and not allowed at the large-scale gatherings in London and Birmingham. The Guardian, the BBC, the Associated Press and Reuters report the list forbids candles, alcohol, barbecues, pets, musical instruments, including vuvuzelas and bulky hampers, because such items could “pose a threat to others.” Folding chairs, cushions, banners and flags are OK, however.

Susan Boyle is set to meet with senior officials from the Catholic Church ahead of her performance for the Pope. It is expected that SuBo will perform when the Pope visits Glasgow next month but has not yet decided what she will sing.

I loved watching his face light up when she sang, but I also think part of it was dollar signs going off in head. Susan could make millions just by releasing a song or two on iTunes. How much of a cut does Simon get for all this? I hear he gets about as much as the singer.

Susan Boyle, in my opinion, is a soul-touching and better singer than Lady Gaga. But, still it’s Gaga who’s being talked about and written about the most. I ask myself why? And the answer comes silently but heavily that glamour and showmanship sells in this tinsel town. That’s where a young and chic Gaga scores and an elderly Boyle loses.
